Freedom To Retreat

When it's Independence Day, I like to take time to be grateful for Freedom.  I can't stop thinking about all the people trying so desperately to enter the USA and all the risks they take to do so.  It makes me appreciate all the freedoms I truly have and think about the false beliefs that hold me back from doing what I really want. 

I know that false beliefs hold us back from going to retreats.  In this week's blog post, I'd like to share what holds us back from retreating and how to use the freedom mindset to push the false beliefs out of the way.

When I opened my first retreat venue, my mission was to help women get away without feeling guilty.  I often put my own needs on the back burner so I could fully relate to the guilty feelings that set in with the thought of going to a retreat.

I witnessed this first hand with many guests telling me that they never took time for themselves.  But, once they experienced their first retreat, they came again and again.  This made my mission feel complete.

I recently polled the fans of the Scrapbook and Quilt Retreat Facebook pages to see what holds them back from going to a retreat.

Surprisingly, the #1 reason was lack of retreat options.  Yes, retreats are in demand and retreat venues and events are full.  There's definitely the need for more retreats, and I've been offering Retreat Business Courses and Services to give the exact steps to owning and operating a successful retreat business.  I myself am going to step out on the field and offer retreat events (more to be announced soon).   And why do I want to start hosting retreat events?  Because I can, and it takes knowing I have the Freedom to take the first step.  No one is holding me back except myself.  I can do this!

The #2 reason was time and other priorities.  This is a big one and leaves a lot to interpretation.  You see, we all have the time, but it's whether or not we take the time to do what we truly want.  I know it is hard to do, but again, use your Freedom mindset to take the first step.  You won't regret it!  And, it's easy to find retreats - check out our directories of Scrapbook Retreats, Quilt Retreats, and our new Women's Retreat Directory.

The #3 reason was money.  I totally get this.  Retreats can cost anywhere from from under $100 to thousands of dollars.   And, money should be a consideration because it's not a good idea to go into debt going to a retreat.  However, where there's a will there's a way, and I encourage you to create a plan to save for a retreat.  Experiences are what matters!  And again, you won't regret retreating!

So, when I saw these poll results, I wanted to try to solve the issues that are stopping us from going to a retreat.  After much brainstorming, I decided to put my love on the online world into a virtual retreat format where you can retreat regardless of options, time/priorities, and money.  I'm thrilled to launch the new Retreat & Co Society! 

The Retreat & Co. Society is an online community of retreat businesses and participants plus includes a monthly virtual retreat that you can access anywhere, anytime, on any device.  The mission is to offer a retreat experience 24/7 plus connect joiners to retreat venues and events so that finding retreat options is easy!

With the Retreat & Co. Society, the things that are getting in our way of experiencing the retreat life are easy to get out of the way!
